Subhash Mittal

After working in the telecom industry for over 40 years (including both India and the US), I decided to call it quits and retired in 2005 in favor of pursuing my deep interest in Yoga. I had completed my yoga teacher training in 1996 from the Satchidananda Institute in Yogaville,VA. As time went by, I realized that I was deeply committed to learning more about yoga as well as teaching others so they could derive the benefits from their yoga practice. Currently I devote my time studying yoga and also teaching several classes during the week.

Jyoti Shah

Jyoti Shah (RYT 200) is a registered yoga teacher with yoga alliance and she is a member of International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT). She has 9 years of yoga teaching experience and has been practicing for over 20 years.

She brings in a classical practice of traditional teaching of yoga, not just as a consistent movement but in a Kripalu style hatha yoga where the focus of the practice resides in the deep awareness of the Self. Her practice of yoga “on and off the mat” helps to develop mind-body-soul awareness- posture by posture and breath by breath. She is a believer of bringing stillness and ease in posture: “Sthira Sukha Asanam”. Her class begins with breath awareness, pranayama, asanas with hands-on assist and use of props brings in ease, challenge, alignment, focus, strength and flexibility. Every class ends with yoga nidra, a deep relaxation. Her teaching practice continues to bring profound benefits of yoga to emerge in to the daily life.

Jyoti’s further professional development and training in ‘Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors’ at Duke Integrative Medicine with Carol Krucoff, and ‘Relax & Renew’ restorative yoga certified trainer with Judith Hanson Lasater makes her teaching style versatile. She teaches various age groups from seniors to children with pleasure and comfort. Jyoti continues teaching small group classes for adults and teenage girls and offers private yoga therapy sessions in Cary. She teaches group wheel-chair yoga and bed yoga at various rehabilitation and nursing care facilities in the area.

Carey "Vani" Gaenzle

Carey Gaenzle

Carey “Vani” Gaenzle MS, PT, CHT, RYT 200, began practicing yoga soon after earning her degree in physical therapy in 1996.

The commitment to a regular practice has changed her worldview. She feels that daily yoga tames mental wandering and lifts the burdens of everyday life, allowing her to radiate more joy, offer more kindness and be less reactive. A student of yoga first, she appreciates the opportunity to practice with a new teacher and finds inspiration from many individuals and styles. Of all the traditions, the teachings of Sri Swami Satchidananda resonate most; a holistic approach integrating body, breath, mind and spirit. It was only natural for her to complete her yoga teacher training in Integral Yoga at Satchidananda Ashram.

Carey is a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. Excited that current scientific research is beginning to acknowledge the benefits of yoga, she is also a proud member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). When not practicing yoga, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and working in and around Raleigh as a certified hand therapist, specializing in management of conditions of the upper extremity.
